Alex mean while its' been working for his first solo album with the project Alex Puddu and the Butterfly collectors" and after a great debut sold out gig at the copenhagen jazz house, he got sign for April Record and got the debut album out "Chasing the scorpions tail"
Alex Puddu and The Butterfly Collectors Band leader Alex Puddu (born 1967 in Rome) was previously the drummer of the Copenhagen-based electronica duo Puddu Varano. Since then, Alex has become a multi instrumentalist and has developed a unique style as a composer and producer. Since 2004, he has released no less than five albums with The Butterfly Collectors. With The Butterfly Collectors, a bunch of skilled musicians, he brings out the best of his musical visions. Alex Puddu's compositions can't be pigeonholed into one defined music genre. He is above that. However, he draws on a wide variety of inspirations and masters them with confidence.A passion for Italian movie soundtracks of the 60's and 70's by composers such as Ennio Morricone and Piero Umiliani is evident and also the soulful songwriting of Lucio Battisti shines through. …and even the odd psychedelic rock passage pops up once in a while. On the first two albums, Chasing the Scorpion's Tail and The Silence of the Sun and the Rhythm of the Rain, Alex joined forces with the young talented singer Mette Lindberg (The Asteroid's Galaxy Tour). Now, he grabs the microphone himself but still likes to bring in guest vocalists once in a while. After the first two albums, the band ended their record deal with April Records and was signed by Sonet (a Danish sub label of Universal Music). The third album Songs for the Sleepers was released in 2006 and included an apocalyptic electro/pop version of The Church's "Under the Milky Way". The album introduced a darker mood and a lo-fi production that differs from the previous albums.
In 2008, Alex Puddu and the Butterfly Collectors released the album Mechanism and Technique on Alex's own indie label Al Dente Music. As an experiment, Alex invited seven different guest vocalists to do their own interpretations of his songs. In many ways, this album is very different from the original and familiar Alex Puddu and the Butterfly Collectors' sound. But it still bears Alex's trademark - the catchy melodies - evident on tracks such as "The Snow and The Bridge", "Make a Confession" and the pop-soul ballad "Drive" sung by the talented Tobias Buch-Andersen of Maborosi with a fine falsetto vocal reminiscent of the early Prince days.
In the spring of 2009, Alex started recording material for a new album in his home studio. Normally, he would start out by striking up a tune on the guitar or piano and sing to it. But for this album, he has chosen a different approach. He wrote all the music, arranged, recorded, and produced it without giving much thought to the actual melodies and the words. He even brought in a full wind section and a string quartet to get the exact sound he had in mind. Only then, he started working on the actual melodies, the vocal tracks, and the lyrics. Two tracks feature guest performances by vocalists Jacob Dahn (ex-Skywriter) and Signe Marike who sings a duet with Alex.
The album Myrrh will be released on March 1st on Al Dente Music and the video for the single "Do You Really Want to Kill Me" is already out. Alex's original idea for the video was to shoot in a church in Rome. Like the album cover, the video was to show Alex wearing a crown of thorns -

The new single "Pull the Trigger on my Gun" including the brilliant b-side "Here comes the Sheriff" its been released in spring 2007 as a 12'' vinyl promo. The band has already build a strong reputation on the Danish, electroscene with some great live performance such as The Danish Dj awards and on the Vesterbro festival.Beat me up baby are on there way with The new single "Hey you come on" a brilliant dance -floor track with a remarkable sloppy disco vibe. The song has all ready reached a great airplayng on the underground club scene .The band are currently working with the album that will be expected to release in the spring.
Bad Boys of 79 Bad Boys of '79 is Alex Puddu's comeback on the electronica scene after the break-up of Puddu Varano. Together with Giuseppe De Bellis (Undergram,Anesthesia) and the danish bass player Maria Holst .Bad Boys of 79 is based in Copenhagen The new CD "Evil Leads the dance " is inspired from : Late-night encounters on back streets as seen in dystopic movies such as The Warriors, Escape from New York, The new Barbarians, Tenebrae, Nightmare in the City... just to mention a few. The sound of Bad Boys of 79 is based on break beats and samples with the sounds of early 80s' synths and delay-effects, all played and recorded with a minimalistic style in mind.but with great accuracy . Alex Puddu composed, recorded, and produced the album himself and describes the sound of the project in a few words as : "Easy beat, evil bite "Frankie Sinistra You've got to snap your fingers…when you hear the name Frankie Sinistra. He travels is his journey all the way from Rome to Copenhagen under the name of Alex Puddu in the latest 80s. And after having been part of the electronica scene for so many years with such names as Puddu Varano, Beat me up Baby, Bad Boys of 79
he's now back on the dance floor the with the disco-no disco, minimal, house project Frankie Sinistra. Lately after having spend a couple of weeks in his own studio "Easy Beat Evil Bite" he's been working on new material, producing and playing all the instruments and recorded 4 tracks for the upcoming EP Frankie Sinistra 1.
When you hear the rumbles of the drums on "Snap your Fingers", the afro-rhythm and percussive funky tunes of "Take me to the jungle" and " Strangers in the light" and the disco tune " Gimme your Love" can be heard all through the love and admiration for names such as Kongas, Barrabbas, Salsoul Orchestra, Cerrone.
